Chapter 3, The Two Little Fears
The little girl, with tears in her eyes, sobbed and pleaded, saying: "I, I didn't mean to, please don't hit me"
Li Ping'an quickly turned his head to look, only to see the smaller girl in front of the door had already fallen to the ground, while the older girl also had a pale face, filled with fear.
The little girl exclaimed in realization, "So it turns out that uncle is the steward!"
Ah ~
Li Ping'an reached out with one hand to the left and one to the right, holding their little hands, and said with a smile, "Come on, I will take you to find Daddy"
The accountant said with a bitter smile: "I am merely reminding you, young master, that according to the subtle words of the letter writer, it is suggested to send these two women to Anqing Academy to serve as book attendants, in order to avoid great calamity"
Li Ping'an was taken aback, when did I say I wanted to hit you
Two little girls hesitated for a moment, then hand in hand, they ran off into the distance, far away from the main hall
Li Chang'an walked over, bent down to pick up the little girl on the ground, patted the dust off her clothes, and said with a smile, "How could you be so careless? Did you hurt yourself when you fell?"
Li Ping'an asked, "Are spirits unable to enter the city?"
The feet barely touched the ground, and then they floated lightly up to the nearby treetops. A figure bent at the treetop and soared again, crossing the air to land on a distant treetop. The sound of hearty laughter mingled with two startled cries echoed through the mountain forest.
Li Ping'an led the two children out of the city, smiling as he said, "Shall I take you flying?"
Anqing Academy? Li Ping'an instinctively thought of that Bai Yuchen and said, "Let me think for a moment!" He turned and walked outside. Assassination? Nonsense, would I be afraid of assassination? If it has the ability, let it come to Sanqing Temple to kill me; if it can enter the temple gate, I will call it grandfather
With a creak, he pushed open the door, revealing a clean courtyard before him, which featured a peach tree and an ancient well.
Li Ping'an casually remarked: "The master here values the concept of immeasurable people; if I do not bring you back, I would be blamed."
Li Ping'an furrowed his brows deeply, turned his head to glance at the statue of the Three Pure Ones, and carried the two little girls out of the main hall. Once outside, he sat them down on a chair and comforted them, saying: "It's alright, it's alright, no one is going to hurt you. Can you tell me what you are afraid of?"
The accountant hurriedly said: "Young master, think twice! They cannot escape; the spirits are the deities of their village, and their scent must have been remembered by the spirits. As soon as they leave the city, they will surely be pursued by the spirits. Moreover, young master, you will be in close contact with these two girls in the future, and you will inevitably be influenced by their scent, which may bring great misfortune upon yourself"
The larger little girl wiped away a tear and cast a fearful glance at the grand hall
The two little girls in front of the counter brightened up as soon as they saw Li Ping'an coming out, and they ran over calling out: "Uncle ~"
Looking up in prayer, he said to Li Ping'an: "Uncle, please do not sacrifice us, alright? We are very small and have no meat."
Li Ping'an smiled and said, "What else can be done? We can't just watch them starve or freeze to death"
Li Ping'an said with a smile, "This is not my home; it belongs to those three big shots. I am merely taking care of it."
Uncle, when are we going to find Grandfather
The larger girl also fell to her knees with a thud, repeatedly bowing her head in fear and calling out: "Spare me, divine spirit, spare me~"
Two exclamations of surprise sounded
Li Ping'an patted them and said: "Go play! It is very safe inside the Daoist temple, do not run outside the temple"
Li Ping'an was momentarily choked. I told a child why engage in such profound matters, as they would not understand.
The two little girls hesitated for a moment and nodded. Although they did not know what a Taoist temple was or why it was not a shrine, they still trusted the words of this uncle.
He clasped his hands and said: "I have already explained the whole story to the young master, and how to handle it is ultimately for the young master to decide"
The taller girl looked up at Li Ping'an and said seriously, "Uncle, you just deliberately spun in the air and even did a somersault. This is not right; it is too dangerous."
The older child expressed concern, saying: "Uncle, you brought us back; what will we do if the master here blames us?"
Li Ping'an led them outside
The accountant proudly declared: "The city venerates the deity of the Curved Pool; which spirit dares to act presumptuously?"
Li Ping'an gently touched the little girl's head and smiled as he said, "You are all so adorable, how could I possibly bring harm to you? Moreover, this is not a temple; it is a Taoist shrine. How could the Taoist deity, in their compassion, blame you? Rest assured!"
Li Ping'an was taken aback, unexpectedly being reprimanded by a little girl. He forced a smile and said, "I will change, I will definitely change in the future." He quickly added, "Come in, everyone come in!"
Li Ping'an encouraged, saying: "Can I talk to my uncle?"
Li Ping'an frowned and said, "Are you asking me to disregard them?"
The larger girl looked at Li Ping'an with an encouraging gaze and hesitantly said: "During last year's grand festival, my parents and I also went into the city to watch. We saw a little boy curiously wander into the main hall during the festival, and he was beaten to death by the guarding priest and then thrown into the sacrificial cauldron as an offering to the deities"
The little girl looked at the clean yard and enviously said, "Uncle, is this your home? It's so beautiful"
The accountant walked out of the room, watching a large figure and two small ones exit through the door. With a sigh, he said, "Good people do not live long in this world"
The small girl came to her senses, her eyes shining brightly, and she excitedly exclaimed to Li Ping'an: "He can fly! Uncle can fly! How amazing!"
Li Ping'an said proudly: "Of course!"
Among the various martial arts acquired through completing tasks, it is the lightness skill "Tiyun Zong" that has been mastered the most. Li Ping'an, who feels a lack of security, believes that even if he cannot win, he must at least be able to escape, as a gentleman's revenge is not too late even after ten years
The little girl nodded repeatedly, her heart still filled with trepidation as she said, "So frightening, that young man screamed so terrifyingly, and there was so much blood."
Perhaps having left the grand hall, devoid of anything to fear, the two little girls gradually calmed down.
Not long after, Li Ping'an landed in front of the Sanqing Temple, holding two little girls in his arms. He gently placed the two girls down and said with a smile, "We have arrived!"
Li Ping'an sighed deeply, lost in thought as he gazed at the sky. In just one short day, he had heard of two tragic events. In this world where gods and demons manifest, and cultivators roam freely, how sorrowful is the life of an ordinary person. Perhaps he had already guessed the purpose for which the Dao Ancestor brought him to this world, but this burden truly felt too heavy to bear
Ah ~
The two little girls looked up curiously at Li Ping'an
Li Ping'an bent down and picked up two little girls, laughing heartily as he exclaimed: "Flying away ~ flying away ~"
The two little girls nodded repeatedly, their eyes shining with excitement
He stepped forward towards the main hall, entered the hall, took three long incense sticks from the offering table by the wall, walked in front of the three Daoist statues, respectfully bowed three times, and inserted the long incense into the incense burner
